InterWrite SchoolPad Receives Award of Excellence

Wireless presentation product honored by Technology & Learning magazine

November 22, 2005 GTCO CalComp, Inc., a leader in interactive technologies for the classroom, announces that the InterWrite™ SchoolPad has been granted an Award of Excellence by Technology & Learning magazine. The Awards of Excellence honor software and Web products that break new ground in some important way and best-of-breed examples that demonstrate clear superiority over similar products in the market.

“Our educator-judges deemed this year's winners to be the most effective and innovative products on the market today," said Associate Publisher/Executive Editor Amy Poftak. "We're pleased to bestow the Awards of Excellence honor on such a distinguished group.”

The InterWrite SchoolPad is a Bluetooth® wireless device that allows teachers to interact with their computer and lessons, with a connected projector, from up to 300 feet away. Using electromagnetic pen-input technology and the InterWrite Software, teachers can digitally annotate over a prepared lesson and any computer application to create spontaneous lessons. The lesson with annotated notes can be saved, printed and emailed to students.

The SchoolPad can be used with the InterWrite SchoolBoard or users can project the computer image/lesson to any surface to create an interactive whiteboard. In addition, up to seven SchoolPads can be connected to the same computer for even greater class participation. GTCO CalComp pioneered the wireless pad technology and holds the U.S. patent for the collaborative input system technology in the SchoolPad.

“Thousands of teachers around the world use the InterWrite SchoolPad to engage their students and create a dynamic learning environment. We constantly hear from our teachers that they love the ability to move around the classroom and interact with their students while they teach,” said Rob Meissner, vice president of marketing for GTCO CalComp. “We are pleased that this innovative technology has be recognized by Technology & Learning as a best-of-breed solution with an Award of Excellence.”

The InterWrite SchoolPad is part of the InterWrite School Suite, which includes the InterWrite SchoolBoard, an interactive whiteboard; the InterWrite iPanel, an interactive LCD display; and the InterWrite PRS, a classroom response system.

A detailed description of the InterWrite SchoolPad and judges’ comments about the product will appear in the December 2005 Awards Issue of Technology & Learning.
