Why doesn't my mouse work after installing tablet drivers in Windows 95?
Click on the "Start" button.  Select the "Settings" option and then the "Control Panel" option. Double-click on the "System" icon.  Click on the "Device Manager" tab. Click on the "+" next to the mouse icon and then highlight the mouse installed on your system. Click on the "Remove" button and then click "Yes" to confirm the removal of the mouse from your system.  Restart your computer. Windows 95 should detect your mouse when the system restarts.  If not, open the Control Panel again and double-click on the "Add New Hardware" icon.  Let Windows 95 search for new hardware. When the search is finished, restart your computer.

Why does my mouse pointer jump on the screen when using my digitizer?
Your tablet is probably sitting too close to your monitor and receiving interference. Try moving the tablet away from your monitor. If this does not work, try changing the operating frequency of your cursor by pressing and holding down the 1 and 2 buttons simultaneously until the power light blinks on your tablet (CalComp cursors only). If using a pen/stylus, hold down the tip and both side buttons simultaneously for about 4 seconds to toggle between the two operating frequencies.

How do I set up my CalComp tablet to work with AutoCAD Release 14?
Before using these instructions, the digitizer should be working on the desktop in Windows 95/98/NT.

1. In AutoCAD, pick the Tools pull-down menu, then pick Preferences. (Typing 'config' at the command line will also bring up the Preferences dialog box.)

2. Pick the Pointer tab.  Scroll down the list of drivers and select Wintab Compatible Digitizer ADI - by Autodesk, Inc.  Now pick the Set Current button.

3. In the same dialog box, under Accept input from:, select Digitizer and mouse. Now pick the OK button.

AutoCAD Release 14 for Windows is now configured for the digitizer. You can now use the 'tablet' command to set up (CFG) the AutoCAD template or calibrate the board.

How do I set up my CalComp tablet to work with AutoCAD 2000?
Before using these instructions, the digitizer should be working on the Windows desktop, as a pointer, using the current tablet driver:

1.  In AutoCAD 2000, pick the Tools pull-down menu, then pick Options.

2.  Pick the System tab.  In the area called "Current Pointing Device", select Wintab Compatible Digitizer ADI 4.2 - by Autodesk.

How do I get AutoCAD 14 or 2000 to access both screens with my Dual Monitors?
Before using these instructions, make sure you are using TabletWorks Wintab™ Driver Version 5.2 (or higher) or 6.1 (or higher), which support Dual Monitors.

1. Open the TabletWorks Control Panel.

2. Enter the Tablet or Mapping screen (depending on which version of the Wintab™ driver you are using).

3. Select Enable Mapping (make sure the "WYPIWYG" pointing mode is selected). Now select Apply.

Setting the TabletWorks Control panel up this way will allow you to use the DrawingBoard III in absolute mode on both screens in AutoCAD.

Why does my digitizer work only after I remove my comports from Windows 98 and restart my computer?
When the comports are removed from Windows and the computer is restarted, Windows will detect the comports and reinstall the comport controllers.  At this point Windows has not started the Power Management feature for the comports, thus the tablet will work normally. Once the computer has been restarted again, the tablet will quit working.

This is an issue that has just recently developed with a number of new high speed motherboards. We are taking measures to fix this issue with our next TabletWorks Driver version. For assistance with this issue, please contact our Technical Support Department at: (480) 443-2214.

Why are there two different tablet modes in the TabletWorks Control Panel?
The two tablet modes give you the ability to setup two different custom tablet zones for your digitizer. You can have one mapped to the full area of your tablet, and one for a smaller custom defined tracking area.

How do I connect my DrawingSlate II with ADB connector to my USB-based Macintosh?
You will need to purchase the iMate USB to ADB adapter from Griffin Technologies. This is the only known adapter to work with your DrawingSlate II tablet. You will also need the iMate system extension of version 1.6 or better. As this extension is not included with the hardware when you purchase it, you must download it from Griffin Technology. If you attempt to use the tablet without the iMate extension, the tablet will function only as a mouse, and the TabletWorks Control Panel will not load.

Why does the TabletWorks icon in my system tray have a red X over it?
Generally this occurs when the computer cannot find the tablet.  It can happen for the following reasons:

Tablet is not connected or not receiving power.
Tablet has frozen due to leaving the transducer sitting idle on the board surface.
Serial port is in use by a different program.
Computer has assigned the tablet to a virtual COM port with a number higher than COM4.
Computer has shut down the serial or USB port to conserve power (laptops are famous for this).
Electronic malfunction with the PC or digitizer.

How to resolve this situation:

Serially Connected Tablets

1. Simply disconnect the tablet from the PC.
2. Remove the power from the digitizer (Serial Only) and wait 10 seconds.
3. Next plug the power back into the unit and then reset the Super Set code.
4. Plug the tablet back into the PC and reboot the PC.

The PC should come back up and TabletWorks should see the board.

USB Connected Tablets
1.
Disconnect the USB cable from the PC.
2. Wait 10 seconds and then reinsert.

TabletWorks should recognize the tablet and the red X should disappear.

Note: Make sure nothing electronic or metallic is residing on the tablet. Mice, keyboards and monitors should be kept at least 12” away from the tablet.

How should I configure TabletWorks to work with my application?
Note: The current version of TabletWorks is built using the Wintab 1.0 specifications.  For most applications, this is sufficient.  If your application requires Wintab 1.1 compatibility you will need to contact your application developer or GTCO CalComp Technical Support @ 410-312-9221 Monday-Friday 6:30am to 5:30 pm Eastern Time.

TabletWorks has an easy-to-use control panel that allows the user to make changes to driver.  Please confirm with your application developer for information concerning these changes.  The TabletWorks control panel can be accessed by left clicking the icon in the system tray or by launching it from the programs list.  Please refer to the TabletWorks Help File for detailed information on using the control panel. It can be found at:
http://www.gtcocalcomp.com/files/tabletworks.pdf

What are the known issues with the TabletWorks driver?
Depending on the version you are using, please read the associated “Release Notes” that can be found at the driver download page.  Inside this document you will find detailed information on:

How do I remove TabletWorks from my PC?
Using your Windows “Add or Remove Programs” from the Windows Control Panel, highlight the program and click the remove button.  The Install Wizard will then automatically start.  Follow the screen prompts and when it completes, reboot your PC.  Your computer should come back up and the TabletWorks icon and program group should no longer exist.

I’m using AutoCAD and getting double-clicks with the 0 button on my 16-button cursor. How do I resolve this?
AutoCAD takes control of the 0 button on the 16-button cursor and assigns it to be the pick button. The TabletWorks Driver, by default, assigns the 0 button to be a Left Click. So, when the 0 button is pressed while using AutoCAD, an AutoCAD pick and a mouse Left Click are executed, resulting in the appearance of the button being press twice.  To resolve the problem, the 0 Button should be set to ‘Not Defined’ in TabletWorks. You can assign the Left Click function to another button on the 16-button cursor.  We have found that assigning it to Button C works well. In AutoCAD, you do not want to assign any AutoCAD functions to the C Button if it is set up to be the Left Click on TabletWorks. We have seen a similar problem with the 1 button on the cursor in AutoCAD if it is assigned as the Right Click in TabletWorks.  This can be resolved by following the same procedure.
