Why are there different colored pens when you can choose the pen
color from the InterWrite software menu?
There are different colored pens for two reasons: 1) You can set the
software to auto-detect a pen change so that it will recognize the pen
you are holding. 2) In dry-erase modes, the pen color indicates how the
computer or printer recognizes that pen. In other words, if you have a
red Expo dry-erase marker in a blue electronic pen, the computer and
printer will recognize it as blue.

What are the characteristics when the batteries are going out on the
MeetingPad 300/310 or SchoolPad
300/310 (light gray) pens?
Generally, the pen quits working. The flashing green light on the pad
will stay flashing (not go to solid) when the pen is in proximity or
touching the surface of the pad. In a few cases, there could be a slight
jitter right at the end of the battery life. A good test would be to
convert it to a wired pen using the cable supplied with your pad or use
the extra batteries that come with it as well.
What is the expected life of the batteries for the MeetingPad
300/310 or
SchoolPad 300/310 (light gray) pens?
Typical operation should have the batteries in the pens lasting for
months of normal use, with greater than 200 hours available. If however,
they are carried or stored in such a way that the tip or side buttons
are depressed and get activated, they will stay on. This will result in
a faster discharge of the batteries, because they can be on 24 hours a
day. |

Why do I get warnings
about the lack of a digital signature when I install the TDK device
driver on my system?
Microsoft encourages hardware manufacturers to submit their drivers for
testing with Windows. If Microsoft deems a driver is acceptable, it
provides a digital signature that the manufacturer can include in his
driver. Windows checks for the digital signature in a device driver and
deals with it, based on the setting in the Control
Panel/Systems/Hardware/Driver Signing option. You have the option of
ignoring the presence or absence of a digital signature, being warned if
a digital signature is absent from the driver you are trying to install,
or blocking the installation of an unsigned driver. According to
Microsoft, the default setting is Warn. The system will warn the user
that the device driver being installed is not signed and give the user
the option of going ahead with the installation, or canceling it.
The TDK Bluetooth device drivers are not signed. In addition, they set
up a number of virtual COM ports on which the driver is installed. So,
when the Driver Signing option is set to Warn, a warning will appear for
the real COM port and for each virtual COM port the driver sets up.
You can remedy this situation either by accepting each warning and
electing to install the driver, or by going into Control
Panel/Systems/Hardware/Driver Signing and clicking on the Ignore radio
button.
